RICHMOND, BRITISH COLUMBIA – Toyo Tire Canada, Inc. introduces the new Proxes® ST II™ high-performance tire created for today’s SUVs, sport trucks and select crossovers. With its unidirectional tread, the new Proxes ST II delivers a fresh design with advanced tread elements for the perfect balance of style, handling and all-season performance.
Tmode® computer design technology by Toyo® results in a tire that is smooth and quiet with improved overall wear characteristics. Toyo’s Silent Wall™ technology minimizes noise during operation at highway speeds by using dense, perpendicular serrations located along the main groove walls of the tread. The serrations help disturb the rushing air flow, which normally produces an audible sound known as “pipe resonance”, a condition similar to wind blowing into a flute. The result is an exceptionally quiet ride.
Another noise reducing feature of the Proxes ST II is a “five variable-pitch shoulder.” Essentially, the shoulder block “pitch pattern” repeats every fifth pair of shoulder blocks to suppress harmonics during operation.
A more consistent wear is achieved by using multi-wave sipes that appear as the tire begins to wear, interlocking with one-another to help decrease block movement. Another design element that helps to resist irregular wear is linear grooving located on the tapered edge of the center block. This lowers pressure on the block edge for better wear and improves overall handling.
The Toyo Proxes ST II offers a luxurious image with its modern appearance. It is available in V, W, and Y speed ratings and includes OE and plus fitments for wheels 16- to 26-inches in diameter. This replaces the Toyo Proxes S/T, which has been one of the leading sport truck tires since its debut in 1998.
