Rating Breakdown
Tough tire for tough terrain
I’ve been running this tire for my logging crew truck, for both summer and winter seasons (studded set for winter), and have been able to rely on it in all kinds of terrain. From clay and muddy terrain, to sharp shale rock on steep grades whilst hauling 2500+lbs between a 500L tidy tank of fuel and a tool box daily. This tire provides optimal traction with supreme durability. Definitely worth the price tag!
Northern Ontario, Canada
Good tire. I’ve used a few sets of Toyo now, and these are working as good as the others. I put them on an F250 Regular Cab truck. I use it for plowing, off road, working, and driving on the highway. I was skeptical about them in the snow, but no issues at all. They work great pushing snow. I don’t know about mileage yet. Great working truck tire. I’ll use them again.
The M55 and a F-250 are a great combination "Northern Ontario, Canada". Thanks for sharing!
Excellent for heavy pickup trucks.
This has been an excellent heavy duty tire for my welding rigs (one ton truck). These trucks are 12,500 lbs when fully loaded and 11,000 lbs with just the tools and equipment. These tires have the best tread life of any off-road capable truck tire we have tried, which has been most of the major brands. I have averaged 45-50,000kms with BFG tires while these M-55 give us 70,000kms before we take them off at 20% tread left. Unlike other brands, these have never developed a bulge on the sidewall. Lastly, here in BC we have tons of sharp rock and these tires are very resistant to cuts and punctures. 2 things to know: 1. While these are good in the snow, they are almost like a mud tire when on the ice. Studs can help with this significantly but if you are an experienced winter driver you’ll be fine. 2. The tires do make a little noise on the highway. Not as loud as a semi truck, but expect to hear them a bit.
M55 255/85-16 on 2015 Tacoma
2015 Tacoma, Daily Driven, 255/85-16 on 7" rim. 40,000 km @ 36psi recommended pressure by Toyo. This tire has good traction in all conditions. Dry pavement to Snow. Has a semi-truck whine when new. Stiff side walls. Negative: The Centre of the tire has a high "Gravel Guard" belt. This reduces the tread depth significantly when compared to the outer sections. Centre of tread is an even 3mm on all tires. Outer Tread (Inside and Out) is ~7mm. Chaulk test confirms all of the treads are in contact with the ground. 5 Tire rotation pattern every ~5000km. I will likely buy these again due to the limited 255/85-16 with Snowflake options.
Great commercial tough tire
I really enjoyed this tire on my last 2 trucks. Now I have a 2021 f350 Tremor and they don't make the size to fit it. Toyo can you please make this tire in a 285/75/18. Would be great to have a studdable tire with the winter snowflake
